The World I See, Wed., 5/27/15

The sky in a lens. My students, all are low cognitive, mostly non-verbal, either on the Autism spectrum or have Down’s Syndrome love to play with their reflection in my sunglasses on sunny days. As I’m talking to them they shift and shimmy side to side, make faces at my eyes. It took me a little while to catch on to what was happening, about the second student to do it, and it is incredible to watch them interact with themselves in this way. It is also difficult to conduct a conversation, such as it is, while they do this. Like them I adore the stories reflections tell. #TheWorldISee
